Chiasson and Butler Lead Kingfish at '08 NE Open

In a weekend filled with best time swims for Kingfish, Sunday night's 100 meter men’s final backstroke stands out as the highlight. Hunter Chiasson, after dropping 2 full seconds off his best time in the morning prelims, came back to the finals as the 4th seed in the event. He proceeded to drop another second to finish 2nd in with a time of 1:02.81. And to continue the charge, Max Butler placed 3rd in the event, completing the best finish ever for Kingfish in a championship event.  Chiasson was  immediately grabbed by Butler over the lane-lines who said, "I can't think of anyone I'd rather lose to."  Then, being surrounded by teammates Chiasson stated that it was the best swim of his life.

Other highlights were our women’s 400 meter freestyle A relay team who placed 12th overall and qualified for Sectionals. Congratulations to Elizabeth Walsh (1:01), Jess Perry (1:02), Kaitlin Buckley (1:03), and Sarah Goldberg (1:03). The Men’s 400 meter freestyle relay placed 10th overall (3:47.70) and then the same four came back for the 800 meter free relay and placed 8th overall with a time of 8:22. Congratulations to Brian Keane, Danny Caldwell, Pat O’Neal, and Max Butler. Kingfish finished up the weekend by placing 11th overall in New England.  As the team continues to crush times and practice strong, there is clear evidence that Kingfish will be breaking the top ten next summer!
