Head Coach

jcraftHeaded by Jay Craft, Kingfish Swimming (founded in 2003) provides all levels of swimming, from summer league recreational dual meets and New England competitions to the United States Olympic Trials. Craft and his expert staff are providing opportunities for swimmers to train and compete year round  at all levels .

Jay has been involved with competitive swimming since 1985, swimming through his high school (Hanover High School) and college (Syracuse University) years and transitioning directly into coaching upon graduation from college.  He placed 11th in two events at the 1992 US Olympic Trials. And, in 1993, he earned NCAA  Division 1 All American Honors in the 500 yard freestyle.

He was head coach of the boys and girls Duxbury High School Swimming and Diving Teams from 1995-2012.  Both teams are perennial Patriot League Champions, with the girls currently on a 25 year league championship streak!  His high school teams also consistently placed top five in the MIAA  Central/South Section. In 2011, the girls team got third place in the state.  In 2009, Coach Craft was named “Coach of the Year” by the Boston Globe. Soon thereafter he was elected  and currently holds a seat as a member of the 2012 New England Swimming Board of Review and most recently became the new Senior Chairman for NE Swim 2018!  Jay’s swimmers currently attend and compete at such colleges as Boston College, Bowdoin, Johns Hopkins, Fordham, Yale, Navy, University of Connecticut, Colgate, Tufts, Bryant, Brandeis and Assumption.

Coach Craft is also known as “Mister” Craft in his full time social studies teaching career at Duxbury High School.  He and his wife Jodi live in Hanover with their four children, Isabella, Jaime, Sam, and Callie.
