Follow up from our Nutritionist….

Written by Lynn Oneil Posted May 7, 2019 at 10:54 pm
Thank you for the amazing opportunity to speak to your team on Monday night. It was a great turnout and I enjoyed every minute.
Everyone had awesome thoughtful questions so I wanted  to pass along, for those interested in one-on-one consulting- our studio is at 228 Columbia Road in Hanover and our dietitians are contracted with the following health insurances: Aetna, BMC Healthnet, BCBS, Cigna, HPHC, Always Health Partners, Tufts and United.  Most insurance companies are great with covering nutrition consulting for endurance athletes who just want to learn how to eat better (they don’t need to have a medical condition in order to be seen). Our team can assist with figuring out each athlete’s insurance benefit details.
Just to give you a little info on what to expect when meeting with one of our RDs- we would sit down and discuss goals/what each swimmer is hoping to achieve. Our dietitians map out a personalized plan with realistic action items to work on each week. Very similar to Monday night but in a more individualized way. If someone is struggling to feel strong when completing a workout- we take an in depth look into why and help them start to feel better immediately.
As we talked about, learning how to fuel properly for endurance exercise is so so crucial and important with helping swimmers feel strong and energized. Please let all of your swimmers and their parents know that our team is so excited and happy to help in any way we can. And I hope to have the opportunity to come back and chat with everyone again soon.

Q & A with Coach Jay Craft and Coach Lauren Brown

Written by Lynn Oneil Posted at 10:53 pm

Next Monday May 13th at 7:30pm we will be holding a very informal “Ask The Coaches” session for parents of all swimmers in any group.

This is NOT a mandatory meeting and is in no way a requirement however, periodically the coaches like to make themselves available in a general forum where questions and answers can be tossed back and forth that people may be unsure of, want more clarification on, need to drill down on some decisions made within their swimmers group, etc.

Again there is no obligation for anyone to come but if you would like to spend some “quality time” with 2 of our great coaches and get your question answered we will look forward to seeing you in the tennis viewing room next Monday!

Thank you,

Lynn

Short Course

Written by Lynn Oneil Posted March 10, 2019 at 10:21 pm
The short course season will be finishing up within the next couple of weeks.   We still have Silvers Champs which I will be sending out information for shortly, all groups will go on break and then long course season will be starting up in April.

Please note the dates below that your swimmers group will be finishing up as they are a bit different

Developmental, Age Groupers, Juniors:

Last day of practice will be Friday March 22nd.   Long course for these 3 groups will start up again April 3rd, be in practice for the first two weeks, break for April school vacation, and back to practice Monday April 22nd.
Please note if you did not register your swimmer for long course yet the links are live and it can be done at any time.  If you have not or don’t remember if you registered please let me know and I’d be happy to help.  Swimmers are NOT automatically registered for long course.  They must be registered prior to attending first practice on 4/3/19.

Seniors:

Last day of practice for short course is Wednesday March 27th.  Long course will start up for seniors on Monday April 8th, they will practice for the week, have April vacation off and will be back in the pool Monday April 22nd.

None of this schedule applies to the Rec Team at all.

Any questions feel free to contact me.

Regional Timing Assignment

Written by Lynn Oneil Posted February 6, 2019 at 8:55 pm
I have put together the timing list for this weekend.

There were a few spots that I didn’t get volunteers for so I assigned families that had swimmers in that session.   Additionally, I assigned more than we needed so that the sessions can be split instead of one parent having to shoulder the load for the entire time.  Example, if we are required to have 2 timers, 4 were assigned so that mid session the first two can be relieved by the second 2.

Please note, we are required to have these positions filled, it is not a request.   If we do not fulfill our assignments our team is charged a fine for each missing person.  That being said, if you cannot fulfill your timing spot it is up to you to find a replacement.  Contacting me to let me know you can’t fulfill does not qualify for getting the position covered so please plan ahead.

Friday Evening:

Saturday AM:

Timing assignments/Spare Equipment

Written by Lynn Oneil Posted February 4, 2019 at 10:51 pm
So I have alot of you volunteering for spots this weekend and we really appreciate it!

At this time Saturday mid day is completely full so we are good there!  I have NOONE yet for Friday evening and noone for Sunday morning so those spots need to be filled asap!

I could also use another 2 Saturday mid day
1 more Sunday mid day
2 more Sunday nite

Please get your name in asap as I mentioned, I’d like to get this list out no later than Wednesday and I’d like to avoid having to assign.

We need:

2 Friday Nite

1 Saturday am

2 Saturday mid day

2 Saturday evening

1 Sunday am

2 Sunday mid day

2 Sunday evening

Additionally, Coach Craft has informed me that the senior group cleaned out all the bins on deck at the club and there is a ton of “extra” equipment up for grabs in the last two bins.  He said there are kickboards, pull buoys, etc. so if you want to take a look at what is there, if there isn’t a name on it anyone is welcome to claim it!

Any questions feel free to contact me.

Championship T-shirt Order……..DEADLINE!

Written by Lynn Oneil Posted January 7, 2019 at 8:28 pm
Hello all,

Even though it seems like the season has just begun, we are in full swing and championships will be on us before you know it!

That being said we have another offering of championship tshirts this year that are really cool!    If you are interested (and who wouldn’t be) the link can be found below to place your order.   All pertinent info will be found once you open the link such as sizing, colors, lettering on shirts, etc.

We have 4 different Kingfish locations ordering these and we need time to compile orders and what not so we ask that you place your order no later than THIS FRIDAY JANUARY 11th.   There will be NO LATE ADDS AND NO EXTRA SIZES ORDERED so get them while you can!

One more thing, the very last line of the order form gives you an option of check/cash or bill to account.  THIS IS AN ERROR, you MUST CHOOSE CHECK and make it out to Kingfish Swimming in the amount of your order and leave in my folder at the Kingsbury Club.

Any questions feel free to contact me.
