Written by Lynn Oneil Posted September 15, 2016 at 10:31 pm
HELLO KINGFISH

Just a few informational items for everyone old and new as we begin our short course season.

Two of our 3 locations have completed their Fit Clinics! The last one will take place in Medfield on Sunday and all bulk orders will be placed at the conclusion of that clinic. If you were not able to make the fit session for your site and you need items that I will be ordering please be in touch with me via email or call my cell at 774-766-9063 by Sunday so that I can try and accomodate you and add to order.

Everyone that has registered receives a confirmation email with an attachment and it will detail out all equipment required for your respective groups. Currently Kingfish works with two different vendors, Varsity Swim and Swim Outlet to assist you in obtaining this equipment. At the bottom of our homepage we have links for both companies that you can click and order the items that you need. Just an important note………….if you decide to order from Swim Outlet PLEASE click the link on the bottom of our homepage!  We have established an affiliate relationship with Swim Outlet and all orders placed through this special link will qualify the team for a percentage back in fundraising dollars!

In regards to all team apparel…………Rockland Athletics is the vendor we have our team store set up with. Our team store is open year round, all merchandise will be shipped directly to your home and their link is on the bottom of our homepage as well.
All Kingfish MUST wear some form of Kingfish apparel on deck at ALL MEETS.

As always any questions, issues, or problems can be directed to me via email or by calling 774-766-9063.

Thanks to everyone for their patience throughout registration! Things will start to smooth out now as we gear up for a killer season!

Thanks,

Lynn

FIT CLINIC (KINGSTON)

Written by Lynn Oneil Posted September 11, 2016 at 10:45 pm

KINGSTON

This Wednesday September 13th we will be doing our annual FIT CLINIC (for Kingston swimmers) from  5-7 in the hallway outside of the locker rooms at the Kingsbury Club.

I will be there with some coaches to fit the swimmers for suits, warmups, parkas, etc.   You will also be able to order caps with last names, towels, backpacks and any other items that you may not have ordered at registration.

We do this once per year so we can order in large quantities and keep the pricing of all items as low as possible.  That being said if you can’t make it but you know your sizes and the items that you want just email me and I will add to our orders.

Personalized items take 2-4 weeks to arrive and I am ordering for over 300 swimmers so I would like to get this done in as timely a fashion as possible so everyone has what they need prior to our season getting into full swing.

MEDFIELD SWIMMERS FITTINGS WILL BE DONE ON A DIFFERENT DAY AND AS SOON AS I HAVE THE DATE I WILL SEND IT OUT.

Officials Certification Clinic

Written by Lynn Oneil Posted September 9, 2016 at 11:46 pm
Hello,

As you go to meets, you might notice that it seems like we swim in roughly the same meets/pools every year. This is not your imagination! Due to regional and scheduling constraints, teams tend to get into the same meets every year. By extension, you’ll see the same officials at these same meets, because with the exception of a few high-ranking positions, swimming officials are volunteers.

Right now, New England swimming is in dire need of new officials. For one reason or another, many of the people we had counted on to do this job have hung up their uniforms. Meets need a minimum amount of officials to run, and New England swimming is reaching a tipping point where this minimum cannot be met. With numbers as low as they are, the few officials that are presently working meets are overworked, which can lead to errors being made.

On September 24th, there will be Stroke & Turn and Starter Officiating clinics held at Seekonk High School. We highly encourage anyone who regularly attends meets to attend! Its long, tough work, but officiating meets gives parents a unique perspective and deeper understanding of competition than spectating or timing do (you also get free food, water and coffee at meets!). Parenting a swimmer is a big enough commitment as it is. But, if you take up the mantle as an official, you will be the glue that helps hold our sport together.

Our team has grown by leaps and bounds and we are obligated by NE Swim to have a certain number of officials.  Unfortunately, we continue to fall short and as seniors graduate each year that takes a toll as well if they happen to have a parent officiating……. the senior swimmer leaves and so does the parent!   As a team we will provide you with the white polos that you are required to wear and also put $100 dollars escrow into your swimmers account for short course and then again in long course as long as you officiate at 3 meets during each season.

Let me know if you have any interest in becoming certified as an official, and I can provide you with more of the appropriate information.

BUBBLE UP KINGSTON ONLY

Written by Lynn Oneil Posted at 11:16 pm

This coming Monday September 12th the Kingsbury Club KINGSTON plans to start putting the bubble up.

Their plan is to start Monday and hopefully be done by Thursday barring any bad weather or high winds.

At this point there won’t be any practices held those few days however,  If things happen any sooner I will make sure to keep everyone in the loop and send an email letting swimmers know which day practice will resume.

I am resending this because I was told some MEDFIELD swimmers received email and were questioning it.  I DO NOT have a date for bubble up in Medfield yet.  Once I am told I will post and send email.

Written by Lynn Oneil Posted September 8, 2016 at 12:28 am

Hi Everyone!

There is still time to register for the Swim Across America open water swim this weekend! Our team has raised over $1500 (on short notice nonetheless!), and has an excellent mix of swimmer participants and volunteer participants.

The address of the event is 100 Sand Hill Cove Road in Narragansett. A link to the address is posted below.

For all those attending, bring plenty of water and sunblock, as it is supposed to be quite hot this weekend. I also ask that all participants (and parents who may be participating as well) come wearing Kingfish apparel!

Here is to a successful weekend!
