PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Well, our fall registration links are FINALLY active!  Thanks to everyone for your patience while we dealt with these technical difficulties!

The Fall session of Rec is slated to start on September 1.  All practices will be held at Kingsbury Club and schedules can be found by clicking the link “when we practice” from our homepage.  At this time we have 3 days/times offered for you to choose your swimmers practice sessions from.  Since this session of rec is filling up extremely quick we may be adding another weekend day to the mix so watch for emails and updates to schedules in the next week. Fall session ends 11/24/2015.

USS Short Course Season kicks off August 31st for ALL GROUPS.   Practice  times  can all be found from the button on our homepage  “when we practice”.    All swimmers must be registered for the 2015/2016 swim season prior to attending practice and all equipment required for the group you are in should be brought to your first practice.  If there are questions regarding  this, your equipment/apparel list will be attached to your confirmation email upon registration.  Please note this list may be added to by your coach as the season progresses.

We will be doing our annual Fit Session on September 3rd starting at  5pm at the Kingsbury Club.  We will have our NEW suit style in all sizes to try on for girls and guys.  Warmups to try on for anyone that doesn’t have one as well as for our new swimmers.  Seniors and juniors will all be needing Parkas this year so anyone that doesn’t own one yet will need to try these on for correct sizing. You will be able to order team towels, personalized kickboards, mesh bags, tshirts, etc so please make sure you come so we can get these orders placed in a timely fashion!  This is the nite you will be able to order your swimmers personalized caps with their last names on it as well.  Please keep in mind we only order alot of these items once per year so 9/3 will be the nite to cover it!  This evening is open to USS and Rec however, unless your rec swimmer will be participating in meets they are NOT required to attend this clinic.  If your rec swimmer does intend on participating in meets a team suit IS REQUIRED

We will be holding 2 Informational Meetings for Parents again this year.  We do not have dates/times ironed out at this point but want to make all parents aware that we  request every swimmer (USS and REC) have at least one parent representing them at  one of the meetings.  These meetings don’t run very long however, they are packed with information regarding your swimmers season and it helps everyone get questions answered on the spot.  Dates to follow very shortly!

All practice schedules, meet schedules, rec days/levels/times have all been posted to the site under their appropriate headings.  Please take the time to look things over to stay informed. And please note all emails get posted to front page of our site and end up in our blog.  You can always check there if you think you have missed something.

VERY IMPORTANT….. Any new swimmer joining the team, both USS and Rec, you need to forward a copy of your childs passport or birth certificate to Lynn O’Neil upon registration.  This IS a REQUIREMENT of NE Swim and we have been informed this season your child will NOT be able to swim and cannot be registered without it.

Additionally, if you have questions as to what competitive group your swimmer should be registered for please don’t hesitate to email or call me.  Its much easier for me to look up the list the coaches gave than have you register and then have to change after the fact.

Any questions about the content of this email can be directed to me at loneil@kingfishswimming.com or I can be reached via cell at 774-766-9063

Congratulations

Written by Lynn Oneil Posted August 11, 2015 at 10:08 am

Hello All,

Congratulations on a very successful championship season!  We will soon finish the summer season with a 2 week stroke clinic starting on August 17th.  We will continue to follow the summer schedule.  Looking forward to a great fall and winter season, which we will roll right into on August 31, switching over to the school year schedule at that point.

For meets, we have posted on our homepage the weekends that we will tentatively attend meets.  Remember, everyone on the Competitive team is expected to compete at MOST of the meets.  Anyone on the Recreational team is allowed to compete in meets but they have to email Coach Craft with which ones they want.  Remember, meets are entered and paid for about 2 months ahead of time.  Another date to remember is that the bubble will be going up the week of Sep 14th so the practice schedule may change that week.

A huge thank you to Max Butler and Abby Mullen for the time they spent coaching at Kingfish.  Abby is going to pursue her Nursing Degree and Max has accepted a teaching and coaching job out in western Mass.  I am sure we will still get to see them from time to time around the pool.  Exciting options for them and we wish them the best of luck.

We have been very lucky to find a wonderful coach to step in that is ready, willing and able to kick off our 2015/16 short course season with us!

Brian Keane has been the head Age Group coach with Black Rock Country Club for the past 5 years.  He swam 6 years under Coach Craft on Kingfish and still holds the 200 Free team record!  We are in the interview process to fill Abby’s position at the moment.  A number of great candidates are in queue.

Lets welcome Brian and wish Max and Abby the very best as we go into another great winning season!

Summer Meet Signup!

Written by Lynn Oneil Posted July 10, 2015 at 12:24 am

As we mentioned last week, we are excited to have the opportunity to swim in two upcoming dual meets right in our home pool!

On Sunday morning, July 19, we will host Cape Cod Swim Club in place of Sunday morning practice for ALL groups.  Warmup will be at 8 with an 8:45a start time.  On Friday, July 24, we will host South Shore YMCA Strypers. Warmup is at 12 pm and a meet start time around 12:45.  For planning purposes know that these meets typically last no more than 2-3 hours.

Again, we have set up these meets for all swimmers, but we especially encourage our newer and younger members, and all REC swimmers, to participate! Races will be short and fun with ribbons for all.  The environment will be casual and primarily a way to introduce swimmers to the excitement of racing.

In order to participate, please email Lauren Brown directly at laurenlizzie@yahoo.com.  Simply provide your swimmer’s name, age, and whether they can participate in one or both meets. If only one please be sure to clarify the one they will be participating in.   Your swimmer will be entered in up to three age appropriate events, as well as at least one relay.

Please know in order to have these meets run successfully we need full parent participation in lines of volunteering, food donations, etc.  A signup genius will follow this email so please be on the lookout and signup to help!

Email Lauren with questions- look forward to seeing everyone there!

Last day of Competitive Practice has CHANGED!

Written by Lynn Oneil Posted July 7, 2015 at 10:40 pm
The last day of practice for long course season has changed.   DEV and Age Groupers last day of practice for the season will be July 29th.   Last day of practice for Jr/Sr’s will be July 30th.
The travel meet,  15-18 champs meet at Beverly and the meet at MIT will all be July 31-8/2 (8/3 for travel meet) and then we go on break for 2 weeks.   We will start back up for short course on 8/17 with practice schedule tbd.

This being said, registration is NOT live for 2015/2016 registration and will not be most likely until late in the first week of August.  I will send an email out when we go live.

Summer rec will stay the same as posted and finish up for their session on August 20 with practice days/times remaining the same for the balance of the session.

If anyone has any questions at all feel free to call or email.

Bring a Friend to Practice is Rescheduled!

Written by Lynn Oneil Posted at 9:22 pm

Bring a Friend to practice has been rescheduled to Wednesday July 22nd which is 2 weeks from tomorrow.

Again, please have your DEV and AG swimmer tell their friend to bring their invitation with them filled out with parents names, phone and email on back.  On the 22nd those will be handed into their respective coaches and “friends” will be allowed to participate and swim the  practice from 4-6p.

When your swimmer signs in at the front desk that day just have them let staff know that their friend is coming in for a Kingfish practice.

Any questions give me a call at 774-766-9063 or email me.

Summer Dual Meets

Written by Lynn Oneil Posted July 4, 2015 at 2:25 pm

Calling all Kingfish! We are excited that we’ve been able to schedule two dual meets with local teams in July; these meets will have the same feeling and excitement as the SSSL meets we’ve competed in in the past. On Sunday morning, July 19, we will compete against Cape Cod Swim Team, and on Friday afternoon, July 24 we will compete against South Shore YMCA Strypers. The primary goal will be fun, shorter races to give especially our newer and younger swimmers opportunities to compete. These meets are open to the whole team, and we encourage our Rec team swimmers to participate! We will have ribbons and prizes for all!

We will need help and participation from parents to make these meets happen, so please save the dates and be on the lookout for a Sign Up Genius early next week.

Happy 4th of July!

Bring a Friend to Practice is Cancelled

Written by Lynn Oneil Posted July 1, 2015 at 7:38 am

Due to the fact that bad weather and storms are predicted for most of the day today we will be cancelling “Bring a Friend to Practice” this afternoon.

At this time DEV and AG will still have their regularly scheduled practice unless the pool closes due to the weather but currently it is too early in the day to determine that.
